Healthful Nutrition Bars

Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew + Antioxidants Kind Bar

Updated Nov 27, 2016

A couple of months ago, I decided that I would write up some reviews of Kind bars to publish on my site.  I had just discovered their hearty goodness and was loving snacking on them.  I felt like I wanted to tell everyone about them.  I first bought them at Costco, but it was on Amazon where I discovered that they have a ton of flavor choices.  And of course, I thought if I was googling these Kind bars and buying them for quick snacks, that there’s other programmers out there looking for good snacks, who might stumble upon my website… Heck, who knows, this is the internet. Strange things can happen.  And maybe I’ll make a few bucks too.

So, anyway, when I was at the grocery store (Safeway) recently, I saw that they had Kind bars on sale.  Even their sale price was higher than the per unit price when I bought them in boxes of 12 on Amazon, but I thought, I could buy a few at the grocery store, so that I could review them.

So I came home with 4 new flavors of Kind bars to try.  Just one of each flavor.  This was one of them.

It sat on my old desk for weeks because every time I saw it, I thought, I don’t like cashews very much, but I do like cherries. But if I eat it, I’ll also have to review it.  And I’m busy doing something else, so I better not eat it yet.  By the way, my old desk is where my Windows 7/Ubuntu dual computer lives, which I don’t use very much these days, although it stays on most of the time running some scripts I wrote back when I wasn’t a very skilled programmer and I should refactor those programs, but, well I’ve got a day job, shrug, you know how it is 🙂

I finally ate the Dark Chocolate Cherry Plus Antioxidants Kind Bar.

It’s the first Kind bar that I definitely won’t buy again.  The quality is fine, but it tastes bitter to me, and yet has about 3x the sugar as the Caramel Almond & Sea Salt Kind bar, which tastes sweet and delicious to me.  (Could also be that I’m a supertaster.)

This one contains raisons, and the flavor of those raisons overshadow the cherries.  Which totally ruins it for me.

However, if you like raisons and cashews and chocolate, you may just love this one.  I have no doubt in its quality, but I’ll be sticking to one of their many other delicious flavors.

Hi, my name is Linnea. I have 3 boxes of kind bars in my pantry. I guess you could say I've become kind of addicted.

I eat Kind bars because they taste good and they're good for me. Each one provides about 200 nutrient-dense calories. Many of my favorite ones are low in sugar, which is important to me because I have diabetes. In order to keep my blood glucose levels from skyrocketing, I have to eat a low-carb diet... so I'm always super happy to find something that I genuinely enjoy snacking on that's also pretty darn good for me.

Also, as you may have guessed from this site's name, I'm a software developer. I write code for a living. And debug it.  So, I often need a quick snack to keep my brain going... And kind bars are really quick.  Just unwrap and eat.

So my plan is to publish reviews and info about some of my favorite snacks. Perhaps other programmers will enjoy them too 🙂

Stay tuned...
